WAITTING SPACES : THERE ARE EVERYWHERE March 13, 2014

The first idea coming up to mind talking about waiting spaces is train station and airport. Trust me I had tested it on my friends! Then comes all kind of spaces linked to transportation from tram and tube platform till bus stop. Then we add the public waiting spaces, hospitals and administration. There, there is often space for improvement as organisation and design schemes. Never forget to look for the ticket number machine otherwise you may stay there for hours without even a chair available to seat on.

Not to be forgotten certain professional private waiting rooms where you need to go from time to time. Some seem tired to have been waiting so long, others nicely design and neat.

And then, the under 2m² waiting space, complete part of the urban life, set up in parks, streets, square, facing the lake or offering a panoramic view, making the wait becoming ” contemplation”: the bench.

Noticed too the waiting space, diversion of its original use. The steps in front of our main Parisian monuments are beautiful meeting point, The Opera Garnier is one of the most famous one. If you are lucky, a piano player with a real piano will entertain your waiting time.

The waiting space in the city, therefor is where you want it to be, we create it where some structure and volumes are available to ease a seating possibility.

The interior waiting space has evolved with our new style of life, movements, travels, and the intensive Hi Tec surrounding.

In airports, the airline lounges are more and more carefully designed and cosy, offering the passengers real resting rooms, cinema, and exquisite choice of food buffet. In Ibiza airport, the party time can last til the boarding starts with the David Guetta’s lounge possibilities. In CDG Paris, a musical sitting area has been designed, with comfortable round chair to help you to nicely kill time.

If in offices, furniture for waiting space represents the company image, designed furniture follows the new evolution of professional attitude, and trends given by the Y generation.

Working space organisation and planning are led by the mix of personal and collective work, involving the need of meeting spaces to share projects. The easy going atmosphere give the employees easier moving opportunities within the same working space. The new management is based on target not on time spent for a project.

Now the designed waiting furniture, are entering the working space itself. By its shapes, materials choices, functions, colours, this kind of furniture help for a better adaptation to the office life. Furniture collection offers today a large choice of options. Brands like de DesignYouEdit , Editions Mustache, Serralunga, Bene, are perfect examples to create the right set up with the right option for the right use.

This quick look on waiting space needs probably more time … in the meantime …
