ITALY/ ARCHITECTURAL PROMENADE AROUND COMO'S LAKE Aug. 13, 2016

Here are the last September sunny days, summer decided to stay longer in this very nice landscape of Como‘s lake.A few tourists are visiting the narrow streets of the old town where you can feel some remains of holiday’s atmosphere.

On the lake, waiting for its next passengers, a wooden boat, Riva style, will take you around to impress you and arouse your curiosity with the ultimate beauty of the landscape and its fantastic Villas.

Capture the spirit of the wonderful palaces, some are hiding, others are not as famous as la villa Carlotta, la villa d’Este, la villa Balbianello or la Villa Erba. Capture the instant of the Renaissance, Neo baroque, or classic style Villa, where the shutters are closed already, may open for a sooner week end, or have to wait for next summer.

Further away, this one offers its facade to the light, till the last ray of sunshine.

Even the houseboat seems to be waiting for hibernation to come.

The awesome villas abandon their pastel facades to the sun light. On either side the terraces with the classical balconies give the best views over the lake, and offer to the gorgeous park the opportunity to be proud of the magnificent trees (palm trees, rhododendron, and camellias). The Italian or English garden style, so well maintained are fantastic paths to welcome the early and intimate ballades of their privileged owners.

Then, comes back to your mind the most famous recent film scenes , from Ocean’s twelve, or Casino Royal , in this prestigious décor, James Bond seems to like this paradise too, remember ?

The succession of the wealthy owners enhances the past history of the property by adding their own in the future. Same story you may read one day in some trendy VIP magazines.

The main Character in Stendhal’s book “ La Chartreuse de Parme” says: “ I will come back often to this magnificent lake. Nothing nicer can be seen in this world, at least through my heart. No need to look for happiness elsewhere, I have it in front of my eyes.”

Musicians also had been inspirered by the Como’s lake panorama, one of the most famous piece from “la Norma” “Casta Diva” was composed there by Bellini.

«  Je ne connais pas de contrée plus manifestement bénie du ciel ; je n’en ai point vu où les enchantements d’une vie d’amour paraîtraient plus naturels » write Frantz Liszt from Bellagio.

Let us dream Como !
