THE COLLECTOR Feb. 13, 2014

SONO GIA MILLE TRE... probably the number of invitations he carefully goes sorting out, day after day, so he never misses any... different color signs to distinguish the European cities that will compel him to get organized in time for the preview... One plastic bag means one month... all of them carefully kept in the kitchen becoming library number 3 knowing that libraries number 1 and 2 are already fully invaded by sculptures !!!

Definitely sculptures, for this son of a painting collector who wants his own 3D collection...

3D for the early hand collection... the hand especially, after a car crash that hurt the Collector...

3D for the heads... Which are heads, with or without flesh and not "vanities"... Some of them invaded the dining-room table, ready to join a bigger group somewhere else...some of them means so many of them that they cover the table...

3D, the bodies, those that suggest life, those that suggest man's structure for this former doctor...

3D, all those people , in balance, thin and delicate, suspended to the walls and ceilings... or to the acrobatic and sometimes gracious condition of the Human Being...

3D, in majesty, huge but requiring little space, all those vertical sculptures made of cristal or metal like this lamp that looks so much like a model of Pei  tower in Hong-Kong... But that was made in the 60's...

" The artists, I want them alive since I need to like the people to feel like buying... I ask them to come home and choose the place for their sculptures"... even if, frightened by the density, "I saw one of them who came happy, little by little become shy and embarrassed when I asked him where he wanted his work to be set, not daring to say "nowhere"..."

Names? in one hour, fifty of them are mentionned, showing the work and the circumstances of the encounter.... well-known ones but never the "fashionable" ones, unknown artists too for the Collectors likes, more than all, to discover them, to help them, to follow them... No name will be given here since the Collector wants to be equally fair to all of them...

The scenography ? Just common sense:

- the welcome signs in the entrance, like this head and harm surging from the wall, inviting to secrecy,

- Monumental pieces, profusion, all that refers to the city , in the living-room and library where entering is almost impossible,

- then food, like those cristal eggs with their exploded grains inside, well kept in the kitchen cupboards

- a more than naked skinned figure, lavas and the humor of a Murano, in the bathroom, naturally,

- and of course in the bedroom, the intimate poetry, time, and suggested erotism.

Little space to move for the enthusiatic Collector and his sweet wife but they live happily this invasion of their own permanent guests...

"This man is crazy, he is crazy, crazy but I love this crazyness" an artist declared... Is he that crazy ? Terribly curious, incredibly enthusiastic but he cannot be crazy, he who, in spite of the profusion, is capable to mix and have living together such pieces that you remember each of them as if it where the only one you had been watching... Instead of cancelling or harming each other, they reveal their neighbours, maybe not at first glance, but in our memory filled with emotion...

SOURCES

Private collection means private... deprived of visitors...

No frustration to be felt, since if he does not give his artists names, he very willingly shares his sources :

In disorder : Taylor Foundation/ Gavart Gallery/ The Antiques and Contemporay art fair at La Muette, or in Bordeaux/ Marseille's SIAC/ Capazza Gallery in Nançay/ Material Metamorphosis at Blancs-Manteaux in Paris/ Art Kohln/ Art Karlsrup/ Arco Madrid/ Art Atlantic in La Rochelle/ Miart Milano/ MAG Montreux/ TEFAF of Maastricht and its off/ Brussels Braga/ Affordable Art Fairs of Brussels, London and Paris/ Knokke-le-Zout/ Amsterdam/ Rotterdam/ London Freez/ Lille TopArt/ Eurantics Brussels/PUls'art Le Mans/ Vittel Fair/ Mulhouse Art 3F/ Artbasel/and though he has his clearly expressed opinion on "the system", Venice and Fiac in Paris.

He very much encourages the adoption of abandoned "art works" to be found in the cities'pavements and is presently looking for electroluminescent wires that will give life to the drying rack he recently adopted and  pulled above his bathtub...
