THE CITY AS HARBOUR AND MUSEUM FOR MONET'S ARK Feb. 13, 2014

She paddles her own canoe, Milène, and she does it well, offering her boat the best of harbours...

For her, the whole city becomes a museum and proposes each installation an encounter between the sculpture and the place...

Very special places, such as the City Hall of Le Havre, built by Pierre Auguste Perret, the well-known concrete engineer and architect, a buiding part of the World Heritage of Unesco or the brand new Chamber of Commerce by Phine and René Dottelonde...

It really is an "installation"... not that of a heap of sweets like at the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao when opening, but that of a full scale rowing boat... and a concrete boat... and a polysensorial concrete...

Mylène Guermont explains : " Monet had a studio on a rowing boat to get as close as could be to water and catch its lightnings and reflects. Monet's Ark results from this creation process based on water... A raw block of concrete submitted to the action of water to become a polysensorial concrete rowing boat, inviting to travels of all kind...

Designed with the help of the boat designer Christophe Barreau, cast with the students of  the Civil Engineering Department of  Le Havre IUT, then shaped and smoothed by water, the boat invites to one single thing : being touched...

She tells different things to each person who gets close, according to their personal magnetism. One will only have to approach it whereas the other will really have to put his hand on her to move her ... smoothly, just listen in... concrete is tender, poet, gentle breeze, child's laughter...

Milène Guermont   MYLENE GUERMONT: MAKING HER OWN DREAMS COME TRUE

A ENSAD she worked on " Emotional Luxury" and wrote about "Concrete and Emotion"... but she has really been able to make her dreams come true precisely because she is a Material and process Engineer, from Institut National Polytechnique, ENSIACET in Toulouse, with a degree prepared with Ecole des Mines de Nancy.

She created her Crater, Polysensorial and Engraved and Coloured concretes so people touch them!

She can make her own now, places like Art Paris, Art Basel in Miami, Cartier Foundation, the National Archives and all the galleries and private initiatives such as  Ste Marie de Neuilly schoool or the Vieux Panier Hotel in Marseille.

Determined, creative, curious and ecleclic... but above all, totally convincing if you listen to her and approach her sculptures...
