Last month we were presenting the first of the fourth themes from the colour trends 2014/2015 by Antron®capet fibre and Global Colour research.
This decorative love of craft and nostalgia advances with a mid-century twist for 2014 in second story Eccentric Icons. We are more than happy to present it with enthusiasm as it matches well with the sophisticated work of the architect Anne Demians (article in Inspiration section: Alu, Inox, Corian: les nouveaux textiles de la ville).
HYBRID, PAST ORNEMENTS + TODAYS TECHNOLOGY, TIMELESS, LUXURY, TRADITION, STYLE and REFINEMENT, CRAFT are the key words for this theme.
A blurring of eras merging past, present and future is prevalent, making way for a hybrid aesthetic. Classic features and shapes are equally relevant in our pared down new century as modern technology.
The result sees yesteryear ornamentation merge with modern design principles giving birth to a new ageless aesthetic key for the luxury goods market. An authentic story comes to the fore where traditional detailing supports a timeless mood. A considered and honest approach to materials creates elegant features and fresh reinterpretations of original designs, like a “be fresh not fake” influence.
Timeless designs are enhanced with contemporary tones.

We continue to see a simplicity and purity of materials
This is what we discover in Anne Demians’s architectural work, looking at this “M9D4” apartment bloc façade, made with perforated steel mobile panels to protect the view from outside, but transparent enough from inside, combining technology, practicality, femininity, details attention, all part of a fantastic timeless and authentic architectural expression.
Craftsmanship combined with new technologies adds intrigue and embeds luxury into surfaces when coupled with a utilitarian aesthetic.

Cross-decade style influences interiors as curated collections of objects and designs from the 20’s and 30’s mix with modern interpretations. And vintage inspired tones are updated with increased saturation yet by combining them with key neutrals, sophisticated combinations ideal for interior spaces are created.

Retro tones are updated with saturation. Deep brown and teal blue ground the palette adding an inherent feeling of luxury. Rich salmon reminiscent of vintage radios has a pared down feel without being too feminine. Inspired by leather and vintage furniture mustard yellow adds style and a sophisticated feel.
Next month, the theme will be “Magnified cosmos”
